1. WHAT GOD CREATES on the Fourth Day?

• God creates the sun, moon, and stars which includes all the 100-500 billion galaxies each containing perhaps billions of stars!

2. WHAT is THEIR FUNCTION?

 

“Let there be lights…”

A. To DISTINGUISH the day from the night, v.14

B. To DECLARE signs

• These light bearers would serve as signs pointing to things. (Gen.9:12,13,17; 17:11).

C. To DETERMINE the TIME

D. To have DOMINION over the day and night

• Celestial bodies RULE the day and RULE the night like Kings in our lives.   They do dominate our lives, when we wake up, when we work, when we eat, when we go to sleep.

E. To DELIVER sufficient LIGHT

 

3. What are the LESSONS?

• Creation declares and sings to us!

A. BEHOLD! (Isaiah 40:25-27; Isaiah 51:6)

1. The IMMENSITY of the Heavens singing of God’s glorious immensity

2. The BRIGHTNESS of the Sun singing of God’s glorious Light

 

B. BE!

 

1. A LIGHT because of Your Relationship to the Son: The COLD, DARK moon becomes a light because it is close to the Sun.

 

2. SEPARATED to Him in a world that is in darkness. Lev.20:22-26

 

3. FAITHFUL as the sun, moon & stars are consistent and can be reckoned upon.

Daniel 12:3; And that they be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
