C. Matthew Recker
Senior Pastor
Pastor Matt has served full time as a pastor in New York City since November 1984. After establishing City View Baptist Church in Flatbush, Brooklyn (1984-1989) and Parkway Baptist Church in Rosedale, Queens (1990-1995), he then pioneered Heritage Baptist Church in 1996 and continues as the pastor to the present day. Matt has an undergraduate degree and graduate degree from Bob Jones, and he received an honorary doctorate degree from Ambassador Baptist College in 2002. He is the author of two books, Behold the City and Living on the Edge of Eternity, various articles and Gospel tracts. He is married to Debbie A. Recker (December 19, 1981) and they are the parents of three grown children, Rachel, Brian, and Daniel.
Carmine Carannante
Assistant Pastor
Pastor Carmine was born and raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A few years after his salvation he began attending Heritage during its first few months of existence in 1996. As he became involved in ministry the church called him to be a deacon in 1998. He served well as a deacon teaching in Sunday School, Adult Bible Fellowship, leading Prayer Fellowships, ministering at the Heritage of Faith Radio Program, overseeing the finances, and going on mission trips. The church called him to be a pastor in June, 2014.
Pastor Carmine served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from July 1989 to February 1997. He has a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer working for a consulting engineering company in NYC.
Raul Cordero
Deacon
Raul and his wife Wanda were married in 2018 and began visiting Heritage Baptist Church in 2019 where they were saved by God’s grace. They were baptized in 2021. Raul is blessed to help with Sunday church setup and the homeless outreach ministry. Together with Wanda, they enjoy serving as Spanish translators, assisting with the church welcome table, and teaching in the children’s Bible class on Sundays. Raul was born and raised on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. He has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College and has worked as a Criminal Investigator for the past twenty years. Wanda was born in the Bronx and works with a Labor Union.
Jeff Profet
Deacon
Jeff Profet was led to Heritage in 2004 after receiving a tract and hearing Pastor Recker on the radio. He has been serving as deacon since 2008. He oversees Adult Bible Fellowship, and is also one of the teachers. He also oversees the New York Rescue Mission ministry. He was one of many who served on a Missions trip to Haiti in 2010 after the earthquake. Jeff was been married to Joy Profet in 2013, and God has blessed them with a daughter, Juliette, born in 2016. Joy also is a teacher of the Woman's Bible Fellowship. Outside of church Jeff received a degree in film from The School of Visual Arts and works as an Encoding Technician at Digital Media Services a post production facility in Manhattan. Joy works for Essence Magazine.
Adrian Smith
Deacon
Adrian Smith has served at Heritage Baptist Church since 2013. Heritage called him as a deacon in 2016. He currently assists with facility setup, facilitation of the weekly prayer service, church finances, and missionary outreach. Adrian married Susan Smith in 2004 and have five children. Susan coordinates the children's ministries of VBT, Children's Sunday School, Nursery, and Children's Church. The Smith family also enjoys hosting visiting missionaries in their home. Professionally Adrian is Vice President of Technology and Operations & Chief Information Officer for a college. Adrian has worked in Higher Education for 21 years and is the treasurer for the PowerCampus Users Group. Adrian has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and his MBA in General Management.
Ishaaq Cali
Deacon
Ishaaq Cali (Ian) was born in the Philippines and migrated to the United States in 2010. He was saved by the grace of our Lord in 2013 and joined Heritage Baptist Church in 2014 where he is serving in the Greeting and Ushering ministry. He married Debbie in February 2014 and have two children, Chloe and Phebe. Debbie is also a member of the Music ministry and one of the church’s pianist. Professionally, he is a Software Development Lead at a utility company in New Jersey. Ian earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at STI College in the Philippines.
Cyd Tumpalan
Deacon
A former Catholic, Cyd accepted Christ as his Savior in September 2011. He joined Heritage Baptist Church in 2017 in the same year he moved to the US from the Philippines. His music background as a percussionist has naturally instilled in him a desire to serve the Lord in the music ministry. He currently serves as song leader, choir member, and occasionally arranges music for the church. He married Ruth who is also a musician (violinist/pianist) and together, they serve the Lord in the music ministry. Cyd is currently working as a Registered Dental Assistant and an Orthodontic Assistant in Long Island City, NY. Cyd and Ruth both hold a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in performance from the University of the Philippines and University of Massachusetts respectively.
Edgar M. Londono
Deacon
Edgar M. Londono was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and migrated to New York City in 1984. He joined Heritage Baptist Church in 1997 and was saved with his wife a few weeks later under the leadership and counseling of Pastor Matthew Recker.
He has served on different Missions trips including Porto Alegre, Brasil in June 2008, Saint Petersburg, Russia in July 2011, and Nagoya, Japan in 2017. He has also been involved at church as a teacher for the Adult Bible Fellowship, with the VBT, in the music ministry, and served as a Deacon in previous years.
Edgar has been married to Ana since 1990. Together they have two daughters, Jannina and Shannon. Ana serves as a teacher of the Woman’s Bible Fellowship, a teacher for the children, and is also involved in the music ministry. Professionally Edgar works as a Building Resident Manager for a residential building in SOHO, New York since 1987.
