C. Matthew Recker
Pastor Matt has served full time as a pastor in New York City since November 1984. After establishing City View Baptist Church in Flatbush, Brooklyn (1984-1989) and Parkway Baptist Church in Rosedale, Queens (1990-1995), he then pioneered Heritage Baptist Church in 1996 and continues as the pastor to the present day. Matt has an undergraduate degree and graduate degree from Bob Jones, and he received an honorary doctorate degree from Ambassador Baptist College in 2002. He is the author of two books, Behold the City and Living on the Edge of Eternity, various articles and Gospel tracts. He is married to Debbie A. Recker (December 19, 1981) and they are the parents of three grown children, Rachel, Brian, and Daniel.
Pastor Carmine was born and raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A few years after his salvation he began attending Heritage during its first few months of existence in 1996. As he became involved in ministry the church called him to be a deacon in 1998. He served well as a deacon teaching in Sunday School, Adult Bible Fellowship, leading Prayer Fellowships, ministering at the Heritage of Faith Radio Program, overseeing the finances, and going on mission trips. The church called him to be a pastor in June, 2014.
Pastor Carmine served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from July 1989 to February 1997. He has a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer working for a consulting engineering company in NYC.
Suresh Balkaran is from the Island of Trinidad, West Indies. He began attending Heritage Baptist Church in 1998 when he heard Pastor Matt on the Heritage of Faith radio program. He and his wife Ambeeka have been faithful members of the church since then. Suresh and Ambeeka were married in 1986, and they are both involved in the food ministry and social events of Heritage. Suresh is the head usher at Heritage and oversees various aspects of the hospitality ministry. He has been serving as a deacon since 2010, and he is currently one of the Adult Bible Fellowship teachers. Suresh makes hand crafted custom furniture and he is also co-owner of an interior designing company, Crystal Curtains and Shades.
Ryan Pitterson has served at Heritage Baptist Church since 2012. Heritage called him as a deacon in 2013. He currently oversees the Children’s Ministry and he serves as a Youth teacher for the teenagers of Heritage. Ryan married Erika in 2011 and God has blessed them with two children. Erika serves with Ryan in Youth ministry. Professionally Ryan is an Assistant Vice President at American International Group, where he manages a team who handle complex insurance litigation. Ryan earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester and his Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School.
Felix Leon Lyons has attended Heritage since 1997 and became a deacon in 2002. He has led various ministries such as the Homeless, College Care Pack, Greeters and currently oversees the Security at Heritage Baptist Church. Leon is currently employed in Mobile Patrol as a Fireguard License Security Officer. He is also a Licensed Insurance Agent and MTA Test Monitor. He Studied Business Communication at University Of Phoenix. He was born in Grenada and migrated to the United States in 1996. Deacon Lyons lives in Queens with his wife Lintia and their four children. Lintia is the Women's Fellowship President, teaches Adult Bible Fellowship and children's Sunday school.
Jeff Profet was led to Heritage in 2004 after receiving a tract and hearing Pastor Recker on the radio. He has been serving as deacon since 2008. He oversees Adult Bible Fellowship, and is also one of the teachers. He also oversees the New York Rescue Mission ministry. He was one of many who served on a Missions trip to Haiti in 2010 after the earthquake. Jeff was been married to Joy Profet in 2013, and God has blessed them with a daughter, Juliette, born in 2016. Joy also is a teacher of the Woman's Bible Fellowship. Outside of church Jeff received a degree in film from The School of Visual Arts and works as an Encoding Technician at Digital Media Services a post production facility in Manhattan. Joy works for Essence Magazine.
Ashook J. Ramroop
Ashook J. Ramroop was born on the island of Trinidad, West Indies and migrated to the United States in 1986. He has been with Heritage Baptist Church since 1999. He was led to Heritage after meeting Brother Suresh Balkaran who is also a faithful deacon of Heritage. Ashook has been serving as a deacon since 2014. He oversees the Social Events, Meals and Celebrations of our church. He currently assists with Project Rehoboth and is an important member of the church music team and assists with the song leading. In August 2007, he was one of many who served on a missions trip to Porto Alegre, Brazil. Ashook has been married to Elizabeth since 1997, and they live in Bayside Queens NY. Ashook is employed as a Patient Care Representative with NSLIJ now known as Northwell Health in Manhasset, Long Island NY. Prior to that he was employed as a Business Trainer with a large national automotive company for eight years. Ashook was educated in Trinidad at Hillview College where he achieved his diploma in the Sciences.
Adrian Smith has served at Heritage Baptist Church since 2013. Heritage called him as a deacon in 2016. He currently assists with facility setup and in facilitation of the weekly prayer service. Adrian married Susan Smith in 2004. Together they have 5 children from the ages of 9 years to 9 months. Susan serves in the children's ministries as a part of VBT and Children's Church. Professionally Adrian is the Director of Technology for Metropolitan College of New York and serves on the President's cabinet. Adrian has worked in Higher Education for 14 years and is the treasurer for the PowerCampus Users Group. Adrian earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing his MBA in General Management from Metropolitan College of New York.
Ishaaq Cali (Ian) was born in the Philippines and migrated to the United States in 2010. He was saved by the grace of our Lord in 2013 and joined Heritage Baptist Church in 2014 where he is serving in the Greeting and Ushering ministry. He married Debbie in February 2014 and they are expecting their first child. Debbie is also a member of the Music ministry and one of the church’s pianist. Professionally, he is a Software Development Lead at a utility company in New Jersey. Ian earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at STI College in the Philippines.
